If you look at the 2020/21 season so far for Liverpool, it’s been a fairly miserable one.

The Merseyside giants have put up a feeble attempt to defend their Premier League crown, plus they are now out of all cup competitions too.

They are still fighting for a top-four finish and can point towards all their injury problems throughout the campaign, but the sooner they can draw a line under it the better.

However, there has been a few bright sparks for manager Jurgen Klopp.

One of the main success stories has been the emergence of Curtis Jones into an important first-team player.

The 20-year-old Liverpool-born central midfielder had already tasted senior action before, but he’s now managed to establish himself in the main squad at Anfield.

He’s made 30 appearances across all competitions this season, with a number of eye-catching displays, and his future looks extremely bright.

The youngster’s breakthrough during the season has been a massive positive around the group, and perhaps they already have someone on their books who can replicate him next year.

Harvey Elliott, who has been out on loan in the Championship this season, will return to Liverpool when the season ends.

The 18-year-old talent is a right-winger that looks ideal competition for the attacking positions next year in Klopp’s squad, and has surely caught the manager’s attention.

He’s scored five goals and made 11 assists for Blackburn this campaign, but on top of that he’s so expressive on the ball and plays with confidence well beyond his years.

If he can impress in pre-season this summer, Liverpool should seriously consider giving him a senior  promotion to make him the club’s next breakout star.

The left-footer is someone that looks ready to be part of the senior group.
