Adam Lallana may be the solution to Liverpool’s lack of widemen

Many of the transfer rumours of late have been related to Liverpool looking to add another wide forward, particularly with Sadio Mane soon to head off to the African Cup of Nations and Philippe Coutinho still sidelined by an ankle ligament injury.

On Saturday it was a shock when Adam Lallana was named on the wing, with Roberto Firmino playing in a central role and Divock Origi dropped to the bench, but he performed well. It was the Red’s first real move forwards where Lallana picked up the ball, broke forwards and delivered a superb ball into the box for Wijnaldum to score.

If Lallana can adapt, and with plenty of cover in midfield in the form of Emre Can, then he can provide a short term solution which could avoid any big investments in January, with Jurgen Klopp said to be reluctant to spend heavily mid-season.
