Pep Guardiola has work to do

For the first time this season, it looks as though there is a very real danger that Manchester City could fail to qualify for the Champions League. On Merseyside, City lacked a potent threat despite the return of Sergio Aguero up front and he was frustrated by the poor service received with very few quality chances created as Liverpool defended well.

In midfield, the disappointing and anonymous performance of Yaya Toure is a concern, with Ilkay Gundogan out long term. Toure has impressed previously, but he struggled to have any influence against the Reds and will need to step up his performances if he is to retain his place.
