Linked with Tottenham in April, Wissam Ben Yedder is not leaving Monaco, claims vice-president

AS Monaco have made it clear that striker Wissam Ben Yedder is not for sale, amid recent interest from the Premier League.

It was reported by France Football earlier this week (as relayed by GFFN) that Ben Yedder had decided to leave the principality club this summer.

It comes after an exceptional season for the forward, who tied with Kylian Mbappe for the Ligue 1 Golden Boot with 18 goals this season.

Such form has attracted Premier League suitors. In April, L’Equipe and The Sun both reported that Tottenham were keen on a potential £40 million swoop for the player this summer. It was also suggested that Arsenal could be keen on a move for the player.

However, Monaco, who have just appointed former Tottenham recruitment guru Paul Mitchell as their new sporting director, have made it clear Ben Yedder is going nowhere.

The club’s vice-president Oleg Petrov has told RMC Sport, as relayed by Le10 Sport, that Ben Yedder, who has also been linked with Manchester United,  is going nowhere.

“We always want to keep Wissam. He is a great asset for the club, a great pro. We expect him to stay in Monaco. There is no question of him leaving the club.”

Ben Yedder would have been the perfect option for Tottenham. His ability to play across the front-line would have made him the perfect foil for Harry Kane.

If his price-tag was not off-putting enough the Ligue 1 side have now made it abundantly clear that any approach for his services will be turned away.

Tottenham and Arsenal can likely forget about this potential target.
