Robin Quaison scored to help Sweden to victory over Romania and his performance would have caught the attention of Newcastle United.
According to a report by Ghana Soccer Net back in December, Newcastle were scouting Quaison in action and mulling over a move.
The creative midfield playmaker can play centrally, on either wing or up front and he was probably seen as an alternative to main target Miguel Almiron.
But Rafa Benitez might be tempted to rekindle his interest in the Sweden international after his masterclass against Romania.
Quaison capped a fine performance with a well-taken goal from close range against Romania in the Euro 2020 qualifying match.

The 25-year-old then played a major role in Sweden’s second as his dangerous cross was only half-cleared before Viktor Claesson fired the ball in.
Quaison currently plays for Bundesliga side Mainz, where he is enjoying a profitable season. With seven goals and three assists, Quaison possesses a real attacking threat.
Newcastle will be weighing up their summer options to strengthen their team and push for a mid-table finish next season.
Magpies scouts should keep their tabs on Quaison for both club and country because he could be an interesting wildcard option to bolster the midfield.
