Last month, Celtic and Rangers were linked with a move to sign Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas and the defender has now teased fans over his future on Instagram, suggesting that he is set to leave Stamford Bridge.
The Scottish Sun have claimed 26-year-old defender Kalas is a target for both Old Firm sides, after another excellent season at Bristol City on loan from the Blues. It is the seventh loan of his career.
The 18-time Czech Republic international has spent time on loan at Sigma Olomouc, Vitesse Arnhem, Koln, Middlesbrough, Fulham on two occasions and then Bristol City.
The powerful centre-back has two years left on his contract at Chelsea and the Blues may opt against selling given their transfer ban, but Kalas has hinted at an exit and could have alerted both Celtic and Rangers with his post.
Both Rangers and Celtic need an experienced centre-back. The Gers have just Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson as options, after Joe Worrall returned to Nottingham Forest and Gareth McAuley’s contract expired.
Celtic, meanwhile, have numbers in Jack Hendry, Jozo Simunovic, Marvin Compper and Kris Ajer, but Dedryck Boyata and Filip Benkovic both left the club this summer – arguably losing their best two central defenders.
At £5million, Kalas is somewhat expensive for either Scottish side, but he is an excellent defender that could prove to be an important addition in the title race.
