'Linked up well': Bielsa says he really liked the way two Leeds stars played together last night

Marcelo Bielsa has praised the way that Junior Firpo and Jack Harrison linked up together for Leeds United against Crewe last night in Leeds Live.

Partnership impresses

Leeds ran out 3-0 winners with Harrison getting on the scoresheet twice, although the scoreline doesn’t entirely tell the story of the match.

Bielsa’s side were the dominant force, but they left it until late before they really established their superiority.

Crewe held firm until the 79th minute when Kalvin Phillips eventually headed Leeds into the lead, and then Harrison added a brace late on.

Leeds weren’t at their swashbuckling best yesterday evening.

But Bielsa was at least pleased with the way that his left-side worked together.

“He unbalanced a lot through his sector. Linked up well with Junior. He and Junior as his teammate they generated a lot,” he said.

Linking up

It will be important for Leeds that Harrison and FIrpo do strike up a good partnership quickly.

Firpo was only brought into Elland Road this summer, but he has quickly set about impressing.

The former Barcelona man has quickly come into Leeds’ starting line-up, with Bielsa trusting him from the off.

Bielsa can sometimes be reluctant to throw players straight into the deep in at Elland Road.

But with Firpo it seems that Leeds have made an exception.

The rapid full-back will, of course, face tougher tests this season than playing against Crewe.

But the added game time should serve him well as he looks to settle into his new surroundings and it is encouraging to see a partnership starting to click down the left now.
