Linked in June, but report claims Aaron Ramsey ‘would not entertain’ idea of Tottenham transfer

Back in June, Tottenham Hotspur were being linked with a shock move for a former North London rival in the form of Aaron Ramsey.

The Sun was claiming that his current club Juventus were willing to pay half of his £400,000-a-week wages, Tottenham paying the other, in order to facilitate a £200,000-a-week loan move back to the Premier League.

It was claimed Jose Mourinho was a fan of the Welshman and that Juventus were desperate to get a portion of his wages off the bill for the new season.

At the time, it seemed a far-fetched notion, considering Ramsey’s past loyalty.

However, Lionel Messi is looking to leave Barcelona and Leeds United have just signed Spain’s starting striker, so clearly all bets are off in football this summer.

However, this is one pig that will not fly.

The Daily Mail is reporting on new Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo’s plans for next season. The Turin club are said to be considering his sale, with a £25 million asking price, but will not be forcing him out. The report also makes it clear that the 29-year-old ‘would not entertain’ the idea of joining Spurs.

It would have undoubtedly been a divisive move if Spurs had swooped in on the Welshman. His Arsenal allegiance would be tough to forget and it is perhaps for the best that this deal looks dead in the water.
