Liam McCarron has expressed his delight on Instagram after providing an assist for Leeds United’s under-23s on Monday, while he also paid tribute to the supporters at Elland Road.
Carlos Corberan’s side drew 1-1 with the Clarets in a fairly underwhelming game. Ryan Edmondson had given the home side the lead, but Burnley equalised from the penalty spot.

Edmondson’s goal came about after a good ball into the box from McCarron. The summer signing floated a smart cross in, and benefitted from the Burnley defender misjudging the flight. That allowed the striker to head the ball towards the bottom corner, and the goalkeeper failed in his attempt to keep it out.
The 18-year-old admitted on social media after the game that the result was a disappointment. But he suggested that he was delighted to set up the goal in front of another considerable crowd.

Here is McCarron’s post…
McCarron perhaps did not have his best night for Leeds, despite the assist. But he deserves credit for his performance in a wing-back role.
Once again, there were glimpses of his true potential. And it still looks to be a matter of time before he is one of the young players that the fans are imploring Marcelo Bielsa to consider promoting to the periphery of the first-team.
