Leeds United captain Liam Cooper has spoken out about the dramatic 5-4 win over Birmingham City this season, a game that left him “raging”.
The Whites had failed to win their previous three games ahead of the Championship clash at St Andrew’s on 29 December last year.
However, Marcelo Bielsa’s charges made a rapid start against the Blues as Helder Costa and Jack Harrison netted one apiece in the first 21 minutes.

Jude Bellingham and Lukas Jutkiewicz hauled Birmingham level, only for Luke Ayling to fire Leeds back in front as the goals were flying in.
Jeremie Bela made it 3-3, Stuart Dallas put Leeds 4-3 up just moments later but Jutkiewicz had seemingly rescued a point with an injury-time leveller.
Yet there was one final twist, as Wes Harding’s own goal handed Leeds all three points.
“I was raging in that game! I don’t think we’ve ever conceded such bad goals, and scored such brilliant ones,” Cooper told Sky Sports.
“Luke (Ayling) can take a bit of credit there! But we’ll never give up and we’ll go to the 96th minute. That was one of those days.
“We had a team talk at the end and I said to the lads to make sure this never happens again. It was a great way to win but we don’t want many of them. I’d like to stick to just winning 1-0. I’d take nine more of them.”
TBR View:
No surprise that Cooper was raging during that game, given his side had conceded four goals – especially hard to take as a defender.
However, it all worked out well in the end, even if the Leeds fans probably needed a moment or three to get their heart rate down after full time.
Should everything go to plan and the Whites get promoted to the Premier League, it’ll surely be looked back at fondly as one of the highlights of the 2019-20 season.
