Liam Cooper and Luke Ayling have lauded Tyler Roberts on Instagram in reaction to the forward’s stunning goal on his Queens Park Rangers debut on Tuesday.

Roberts has not had the easiest time since arriving at Loftus Road on loan from Leeds. He sustained an injury that kept him out of their first two Championship games.

However, he made his return this week as QPR took on Charlton Athletic in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

It proved to be a disappointing night for Michael Beale’s side. They were knocked out on penalties by the League One side.

But the major positive for QPR was the contribution from Roberts. The Wales international broke the deadlock with a brilliant effort during the second-half.

Roberts collected the ball around 35 yards out and proceeded to run to the edge of the box. He then unleashed a sublime strike into the top corner that the goalkeeper got nowhere near.

Unsurprisingly, Roberts took to social media following the game. And while he expressed his disappointment about the result, he was clearly delighted to open his account.

And Cooper and Ayling was amongst those to reply…

Most Leeds fans would love to see Roberts thrive at QPR. It never quite happened for him at Elland Road. But most of the fanbase did not enjoy seeing the 23-year-old come in for so much criticism from others.

He had his brilliant moments. He did do well in a handful of Premier League games. And of course, every player who helped Leeds seal promotion has their place in folklore secured.

It looks unlikely that he will play for Leeds again. Plenty of supporters will hope that is because QPR simply cannot turn down the opportunity to sign him permanently.
