Liam Cooper messages Leeds pair on Twitter after contract announcement

Leeds United captain Liam Cooper has taken to Twitter to congratulate Charlie Cresswell and Stuart McKinstry after the pair signed their first professional contracts at Elland Road.

Leeds have confirmed on their official website that the two 17-year-olds have signed three-year deals that are set to run until 2022.

McKinstry only joined the Whites from Motherwell in the summer. But the winger has already made a big impression, winning two penalties in the under-23s’ 6-0 win over Watford recently.

Cresswell appears to have benefited from the club selling a raft of centre-backs over the summer. He has been promoted to Carlos Corberan’s ranks having previously been a stalwart for the under-18s.

It was an incredibly productive day for Leeds. The club also confirmed on their official website that Pascal Struijk, Bryce Hosannah and Kun Temenuzhkov have all extended their contracts with the Championship leaders.

The quintet have all established themselves as players that the fans need to keep an eye on. McKinstry looks to be an incredibly exciting signing. Cresswell meanwhile, could have the potential to be one of the next players to go through the entire system and perhaps break into the first-team.
