One of Leeds United’s top priorities this summer after their promotion has to be trying to re-sign Ben White from Brighton, following the defender’s stunning season last time out.
White was one of a number of standout performers for Marcelo Bielsa all season. Cool, calm on the ball, but with the aggression needed to compete, White formed a brilliant understanding with Liam Cooper at Elland Road.

However, he is now back at Brighton and pushing for a first XI opportunity in the coming season under Graham Potter.
And while Leeds fans would no doubt love to have him back at Elland Road, Frank Lampard could well pop up once again to scupper Leeds and their move for the defender.
That is because Lampard is thought to be keen on signing Lewis Dunk. The big defender has, like White for Leeds, been superb for Brighton in recent times but is now wanted at the highest level.
Dunk’s sale will mean a chance for Ben White, ending Leeds hopes
Brighton does have a number of defensive options at their disposal. Along with Dunk, they already have the likes of Webster, Duffy, and Veltman, while they also signed Lars Dendoncker yesterday.
However, Duffy has been linked with an exit himself (SkySports) while Webster hardly shone brightly following his big move from Bristol City. Dendoncker is unproven and a new signing while Veltman will probably play at full-back.

It could be, then, that Potter opts to go with White as his replacement for Dunk. He has all the tools needed to replace the Seagulls star, while he proved in the Championship how good he can be when he wants.
Sadly for Leeds fans, this will probably mean no Ben White signing. And while reports suggest talks may be ongoing, if Dunk goes to Chelsea, it seems unlikely we’ll see Leeds fans get their wish.
