Lewis Cook shows why he could be long-term Tottenham Hotspur hero

England under-21s dealt out an absolute thrashing to Denmark in a friendly last night. Aidy Boothroyd’s side won 5-1 with a resounding performance. A goal for Demarai Gray and two apiece for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Dominic Solanke saw the Young Lions pick up the win.

However, it was the England midfield trio that gained the post-game plaudits. Kieran Dowell and Phil Foden of Everton and Manchester City respectively were both sensational. But the man behind them, the lynchpin of this England team, deserves special credit.

Lewis Cook was again sensational and highlighted once again why Tottenham Hotspur have a vested interest in his progress.

The captain of the under-21s is the pendulum that makes this clock tick. He sets the tone for the whole team and this performance, in particular, highlighted how much he would suit a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Sky Sports reported recently that Tottenham continue to monitor the player. The England under-21 captain was recently valued at around £30 million by The Express, as Tottenham’s interest was reported earlier in the campaign.

With Spurs seeking a long-term replacement for Mousa Dembele in midfield Cook remains a possible option. Judging by his performance last night that should continue to be the case.
