Lewis Baker should get rare Leeds opportunity against Bristol City

Leeds United host Bristol City on Saturday in the Championship and bad luck with injuries means manager Marcelo Bielsa has a headache over his team selection.

The Yorkshire giants are without their two first-choice goalkeepers, while they could be left with just Liam Cooper as the only recognised senior centre-back.

Versatile ace Kalvin Phillips is a contender to drop back from midfield to the heart of defence if needed and that will open up a spot in the centre of the park.

Leeds fringe man Lewis Baker should get a rare chance by Bielsa and handed his first league start since he joined in the summer on loan from Chelsea.

The central midfielder has had just 14 minutes of action in the last nine league fixtures, but could certainly add something at Elland Road if given more opportunities.

He is a technically gifted ace that can take care of possession well and is tidy on the ball, which is why using him to fill the Phillips void could be an interesting solution.

Baker, 23, does provide a genuine goalscoring option from midfield too and Leeds fans are yet to see him in full swing.

The Englishman has enjoyed success out on loan from Chelsea before and could be a weapon Bielsa is still yet to fully unleash.

Leeds may be best served using first teamer Phillips in defence rather than blooding a youngster in the Championship and the team need a response after the 4-1 defeat to West Brom before the international break.
