'Lethal', 'can do the business': Liverpool-linked striker lauded for latest international display
Liverpool will have an eye on the summer transfer window and talk of who could arrive at Anfield has already begun.
One such player is Myron Boadu, Liverpool icon Stan Collymore recently suggesting the Reds had their eyes on him.
Boadu has now won plaudits from the Dutch press for his Netherlands Under-21 display on Monday night.
Collymore claimed in March that the Reds had the AZ star on their summer shortlist.
Now, the 20-year-old has helped his nation overcome a highly-fancied France U21 side at the U21 Euros.
Boadu scored twice as the Oranje saw off a highly-fancied France U21 side in the quarter-finals.
France took the lead thanks to Ibrahima Konate’s 23rd-minute header.
However, the Dutch equalised early in the second half before going on to turn the game around late on.
Abdou Harroui’s strike deflected to Boadu, who was onside and finished from close range.
And in injury time, Justin Kluivert crossed for Boadu to guide the ball into the net and put the Oranje in the semi-finals.
“The AZ Alkmaar striker was lethal for the Netherlands with two goals from his two shots on goal,” wrote Football Oranje.
“Boadu is a player that may not be involved in the game but if you give him the ball in the box he can do the business.
“A clinical but not exceptional performance from the forward.”
Liverpool have some incredible attacking players in their ranks but it might be a good idea to freshen things up.
Boadu is a quality striker whose record for club and country – at age level – is impressive.
Therefore, it’s not surprising for him to be linked with a possible transfer to Liverpool.
He has just completed an amazing season for AZ, registering 15 goals from 31 Eredivisie appearances.
The talented marksman also has 11 goals and four assists from just 11 appearances for the Dutch U21s.
“He is so cool in front of goal and so dangerous from deep,” Netherlands Under-21 coach Erwin van de Looi said last year.
“He has that ability to just score, that is really a talent.”
