Les Ferdinand reacts after what Heung-Min Son said following Tottenham’s defeat to West Ham

Tottenham lost to West Ham United last night and former striker Les Ferdinand believes Heung-Min Son was fuming with some of his teammates.

Defeat for Spurs means it’s now no win in five for them and despite the brilliant start they had under Ange Postecoglou, things are just starting to derail a touch.

Injuries have killed Tottenham in recent weeks as we know. The likes of James Maddison and Micky van de Ven being out is causing big problems, while Cristian Romero’s suspension hasn’t helped.

However, speaking after the game last night, Son said that the players in the team right now need to take responsibility and look at themselves.

And speaking about Son’s comments for Amazon last night, Les Ferdinand admitted he was impressed with Son digging a few players out and called on the Spurs skipper to rally his troops.

“I like what he had to say there. He’s not happy. But it sounds like players have to hold players accountable. You can always look at the manager and say the manager has to do his job. Of course, he does. But players have to hold each other accountable as well and it sounded like that was what he was talking about. Players taking responsibility for the way they are performing and what they are doing. He’s the captain so he needs to get hold of some of his players if they are not doing what they need to do,” Ferdinand said.

Son needs to get Tottenham going

This is the real test for Spurs now. They are moving in the right direction under Ange Postecoglou but four defeats from five is no good.

Likewise, this is the first time the manager has come out and had a bit of a go as well. Big Ange said his players weren’t clinical and there are just small signs of cracks appearing a touch now.

For players like Heung-Min Son, it’s now imperative he gets the squad together and gets them out of this current mini slump.

Spurs are desperate for a win but only the players can help with that. They have to grind a win out somehow and forget about the injury issues.

If not, then suddenly their place as one of the top four contenders is under threat.
