Leon Osman reacts to Jack Harrison's display in Leeds win
Leon Osman has told Match of the Day that Jack Harrison has had an incredible season as he suggested that it is a shame that the Leeds United star is not being talked about more as a potential contender for this summer’s England squad.
No English midfielder has a greater number of goals and assists combined than Harrison in the Premier League this term. His tally stands at 16 goal involvements, with eight strikes of his own.
His latest goal came in Saturday’s 4-0 win away at Burnley. The 24-year-old also provided two assists in the victory at Turf Moor.
And Osman suggested that he could be extremely proud of his performance in his first year in the Premier League – but suggested that it may not be enough to tempt Gareth Southgate to hand him a call-up.
“It’s a shame because he has had an incredible season,” he told Match of the Day. “Stats speak for themselves, to have done so well.
“But [England] have got an embarrassment of riches in that area, but the young man has just got to keep doing what he’s is doing and impress every time he plays because with performances like that, he’s certainly going in the right direction.”
TBR View: Harrison surely set to be Leeds’s first summer signing
It surprised many when Leeds signed Harrison on loan once again last summer. Many simply expected the move to become permanent.
There is surely no chance this time around however, that the Whites will seek another loan.
In fact, it would be a surprise if Leeds did not make Harrison their first signing of the summer. The Athletic suggests that they have the option to keep him for just £10 million.
As things stand, that fee looks set to see Leeds produce an absolute steal.
