Glasgow Rangers defender Leon Balogun has shared what his old teammates said to him when he told them he was linking up with Steven Gerrard at Ibrox.
Last summer, the Gers boss signed the Nigeria international on a free transfer on a one-year deal with the option of another year.
For most of the season so far, Gerrard has been alternating between Balogun and Filip Helander in the back four to partner Connor Goldson.

The 32-year-old, who has also covered for James Tavernier at right-back, has made 26 competitive appearances for the Light Blues.
Prior to joining Rangers, Balogun was with English Football League side Wigan Athletic.
He linked up with the Latics on a loan deal from Brighton, but as the season was extended beyond the end of his Seagulls contract, he penned a short-term deal with the Lancashire side.
“When my boys (at Wigan) heard that I was going to join Rangers, they all said to me ‘unbelievable, that’s awesome, you’ll love that’,” Balogun told Sport1, translated by the Daily Record.
“And I said to Chey Dunkley ‘just watch, I’ll be holding that trophy at the end of the season’. The easiest thing was to dream about it. Putting it into practice was a different matter.”
TBR View:
Balogun was brought in as cover for the injured Nikola Katic and it’s safe to say he has done superbly for Rangers, one of many players who have impressed this season en route to title number 55.
It’s great to hear how impressed his former Wigan teammates were when he told them he was joining the Gers, and they’ll surely be extra happy now he’s lifted the title too.
