A number of Celtic fans have urged Neil Lennon to look at an “unreal” player who Bhoys defender Hatem Abd Elhamed described as the best footballer he’s ever played with.
As part of a Twitter Q&A session on Thursday, the Hoops ace was asked the question, and rather than opt for a Celtic player, he went for former Hapoel Be’er Sheva attacker Anthony Nwakaeme.
“I play with some amazing players at Celtic but there was a Nigerian player called Anthony Nwakaeme at my old club,” said Elhamed. “He was unreal!”
Nwakaeme spent three years at Be’er Sheva, registering an impressive 47 goals and 27 assists from 134 competitive appearances.
Contracted to the Turkish outfit until 2022, Nwakaeme – believed to be on €800,000 a year, around £14,000-a-week – is hoping to win a fourth title in a row, with Trabzonspor just two points off the top.
Given Elhamed’s glowing endorsement, it has piqued the interest of quite a few Celtic fans, and they’ve urged the board to make a move.
