Lennon should put faith in forgotten Celtic signing Bayo after title is sealed

Neil Lennon’s Celtic have as good as won the Scottish Premiership title.

The Bhoys are currently 13 points ahead of Rangers in the league table, with just six games left to play.

Celtic have been able to stave off a relatively feeble challenge in the end from their rivals and, barring an absolute miracle, will be able to celebrate an eighth straight title.

Once the deal is sealed, Lennon is then free to experiment with the team and one man who should perhaps be given a chance is Vakoun Issouf Bayo.

Bayo joined the club in January in a £2 million deal from Dunajska Streda, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

TBR’s view

If Celtic are able to get consecutive title number eight over the line early, then there is no reason why Bayo shouldn’t be given some kind of proper involvement in the first-team.

The Ivorian was handed a one-minute cameo by Brendan Rodgers but hasn’t gotten any game time for the firsts since. He’s made one matchday squad under Lennon, but largely he has been working to impress for the reserves.

Bayo plundered 18 goals in 23 games for Streda this season before sealing his move to Parkhead, so clearly he has an eye for goal.

The best time to blood him would be as soon as the title is wrapped up, as he can then be prepared for the physicality of the league next season.

He needs a taster of what it’s like and there would be next to no pressure to go out and express himself.
