Neil Lennon has begun talks with Celtic about taking over the manager’s job when Brendan Rodgers makes his move to Leicester City, according to Sky Sports.
With Rodgers poised to take over from Claude Puel at the King Power Stadium, they report that Lennon is being lined up for a dramatic return to the club he left in 2014.
They say that Celtic are waiting for official confirmation of Rodgers’ departure before finalising details with former Hibernian boss Lennon but the wheels are in motion.
It’s worth having a look back at the circumstances in which Lennon left Parkhead last time. The Guardian reported at the time that the Northern Irishman felt that he had taken the club as far as he could.

Lennon’s managerial star was on the rise after guiding Celtic into the knockout stages of the Champions League at the peak of his reign and he likely had his eyes on a Premier League job in England.
He ended up at struggling Championship side Bolton, swimming against the tide in testing circumstances before joining Hibernian.
He did a fair job there but it’s not as good a job as the Celtic one. It’s fair to argue that Lennon has never been better than when he was at Celtic the first time and that his career has stalled somewhat since he walked away from Parkhead a little under five years ago.
But if he does go back, he has an opportunity to return to his best.
