Leipzig manager Tedesco makes big claim about the Ibrox atmosphere after losing to Rangers last night
RB Leipzig manager Domenico Tedesco says the atmosphere at Ibrox last night was the best he has ever experienced.
Leipzig came into the second leg of their Europa League semi-final clash with Rangers 1-0 ahead from the first 90 minutes.
But Rangers always had a chance of turning it around in front of their raucous home fans and that is exactly what they did, winning 3-1 on the night to make the Europa League final.
Speaking after the game, Tedesco said that the atmosphere played a part in his side’s start to the game and they are not the first side to struggle on Rangers’ home turf during this Europa League run.
Tedesco told Leipzig’s official website after the game: “The atmosphere played its part – it was the best atmosphere that I’ve ever experienced.
“But that’s only a legitimate explanation for the first ten minutes. We had enough chances, whether it was [Konrad Laimer] or Dani (Olmo) who shot over with his left.
“We find it hard against physical sides – we saw that against Union (Berlin).
“We did a good job against Atalanta, especially in the second leg. But today, the opposition was the winner in a lot of the 50-50 challenges.”
Rangers make the Europa League final
Rangers produced a historic night in front of their own fans and deservedly take their place in the Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt.
James Tavernier was singled out for praise by BBC pundit Leanne Crichton after getting the ball rolling on the night by levelling the tie.
John Lundstram finished the job with the third goal and earned a mention from Chris Sutton, who congratulated Rangers on their win.
Rangers will surely travel in numbers for the final and they have a real chance of getting the result they want to give their fans another night they will never forget.
