Fenerbahce want to bring Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu in on loan during the summer, according to the Leicester Mercury.
They report that former Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel is planning to leave the Turkish club and Soyuncu is the man they have identified to replace him.
Soyuncu joined Leicester last summer in a deal Sky Sports reported was worth a hefty £19m but has struggled for gametime this season as the likes of Jonny Evans and Harry Maguire have muscled ahead of him.
With Wes Morgan having recently signed a new contract and Filip Benkovic set to return from his loan spell at Celtic to compete next season, the competition for places is not going to get any easier for Soyuncu.
But despite that competition for places, Brendan Rodgers should resist the temptation to offload Soyuncu and give him gametime.
Rodgers has been brought in to oversee the development of Leicester’s young players and essentially complete the phasing out process of the ageing players who won the title in 2016.
That means that Morgan, despite his new deal, and Evans, should become marginalised as next season progresses, providing the younger faces coming up behind them develop as expected.
So, getting Soyuncu to show the ability that convinced Leicester to spend £19m on him should be a priority for Rodgers next term as his Foxes revolution kicks into gear.
