Leicester City hold a long-term interest in Everton defender Michael Keane, according to a report by the Leicester Mercury.
The report says that Leicester have been laying down plans in case Harry Maguire is prized away – with either of the two Manchester clubs the most likely destination.
Maguire and Keane will both form part of the England squad battling for Nations League glory when the semi-finals kick off next week, with the Leicester man more likely to be selected to partner John Stones after his World Cup heroics.
But with both Everton and Leicester battling to break the Premier League class ceiling and gatecrash the money-laden top six, would swapping Merseyside for the Midlands be an upwards step for Keane?
He has just got his feet under the table at Everton; following up a shaky first season with a much more assured second, as Marco Silva’s Toffees revolution took shape in the second half of the season.
Leicester have an exciting squad and the capacity to spend but so do Everton and it’s tough to tell which club will be the one to be the ‘best of the rest’ in 2019/20.
So it would be worth Keane asking himself – if Leicester did come knocking – whether the King Power is really an upgrade.
