Leicester City are reportedly on the cusp of completing the signing of Youri Tielemans from French club Monaco.
The 22-year-old dazzled at the King Power Stadium on loan during the second half of last season and it looks like he will return to the East Midlands.
According to Sky Sports, the Belgium international will undergo a medical on Saturday ahead of a move to the Foxes.
It is understood that Leicester are near to an agreement with Monaco over the midfielder and he could cost them around £40million.
The report details that a deal could be concluded in time for him to travel with Brendan Rodgers’ squad for pre-season next week in France.
Leicester have already completed impressive deals for Newcastle United’s Ayoze Perez and Luton Town’s James Justin, but Tielemans will top the lot if he becomes the latest signing.
Tielemans will be a genius addition for Leicester if it gets over the line and it’s surprising that none of the Premier League’s top six have swooped in for him.
He made the Foxes tick during his brief time with them and made an immediate impact in English football.
The central midfielder become a fan favourite in just 13 games, scoring three goals and supplying five assists.
His link up play in the centre of the park with the likes of James Maddison was eye-catching and it looks like he could be the final piece of the jigsaw to help Rodgers’ squad really push for a European spot in the new season.
Tielemans will be a marquee addition that shows a real statement of intent and he’s got the potential to become one of the best midfielders in the division.
