Leicester City’s season is on a knife edge right now, where they could either make a real push for the European spots with some favourable fixtures or be dragged into an unlikely relegation battle.
The Foxes also won’t want the campaign to fade away either to a mid-table finish and it’s time their star players came to the fore.
Claude Puel’s side are just lacking a cutting edge offensively and need their attackers to chip in with more goals, as they’s scored just 31 times in 26 league games.
There has been real difficulty replacing the Riyad Mahrez void at the King Power Stadium this campaign and several of the wingers aren’t contributing enough.
Rachid Ghezzal was signed in a £10million deal (Sky Sports) in the summer that could rise to £12million and he’s yet to justify that price tag.
The 26-year-old winger should already be running out of time to save his Leicester career and needs a strong finish to the season.
Ghezzal has failed to nail down his spot in Puel’s team and has made just 20 appearances across all competitions.
The left-footed Algerian has contributed just three goals and no assists, with his only Premier League strike coming back in September against Liverpool.
There has been glimpses of the wide man’s technical quality, but’s he’s not been creative enough and hasn’t been direct enough either.
Leicester’s upcoming fixture list should see them have a real chance to go on a winning streak and Ghezzal has to be one of the players under the spotlight to perform.
Marc Albrighton’s current injury problems have opened the door for Ghezzal and he really has to seize it to prove he belongs at the club next season.
