Leicester fans react to Kelechi Iheanacho’s goalscoring EFL Cup display against Luton

Leicester City cruised through in the EFL Cup last night with a comfortable 4-0 victory away from home against Championship outfit Luton Town.

Demarai Gray and Youri Tielemans got a goal apiece, with debutant James Justin netted upon his return to the club he left last summer, before Kelechi Iheanacho completed the scoring.

The match was an opportunity for some of Brendan Rodgers fringe stars to get some gametime and confidence and nobody needed it more than the man Spotrac claim earns £60,000-a-week at the King Power Stadium.

He is firmly behind Jamie Vardy in the pecking order and continues to struggle to show the quality which got Manchester City excited about him when he broke through there.

That meant that some Leicester fans couldn’t believe he actually got himself on the scoresheet, despite the fact the game was dead and the opponents were a much-changed side from the league below.

Iheanacho needs to push on from here, but he won’t knock Vardy out of the starting team unless there’s an injury, which poses a problem.

For now, he can bask in the glow of getting back among the goals and the supporters on Twitter will hope there are more to come.
