Leicester fans react to Ayoze Perez’s performance in EFL Cup defeat to Aston Villa

Leicester City suffered late heartbreak in the semi-finals of the EFL Cup last night, losing out 3-2 on aggregate to Aston Villa.

The Foxes slipped behind last night, just as they did in the first leg, but the score was 1-1 (2-2 on aggregate) last night in stoppage time.

But Trezeguet stepped up with a late winner at the back post to break Leicester hearts and send Villa Park into raptures, booking Villa’s spot in the final.

They will face one of the Manchester clubs at Wembley – with Manchester City 3-1 up going into their second leg tonight – with Leicester left to lick their wounds.

Too many of Leicester’s players struggled to make an impact on the night and Ayoze Perez was among the worst offenders.

He’s had a good season and the affection Leicester fans have for him already is clear but there were plenty on Twitter who felt he was ineffective.

There were calls for Jamie Vardy to replace him even earlier than he actually did and criticism of his lack of ability to influence the match from wide.

Some called for a new wideman to come through the door, most likely in the summer, and we’ve put together the reaction.
