Aston Villa defender Matt Targett is reportedly attracting interest from Premier League rivals Leicester City – and some of their fans on Twitter have responded by claiming they don’t want to see him move to the King Power Stadium.
According to the Daily Star, the Villa player is on a three-man shortlist of left-backs that Leicester are now targeting this summer, as they look to replace Ben Chilwell following his £50million switch to Chelsea.
It is understood that Leicester are considering a bid for Targett, who only moved to Villa last summer for £11million (Sky Sports) from Southampton.
Despite injuries disrupting his first season at the club, Targett managed to help his side avoid relegation from the Premier League and discovered some strong form towards the end of the campaign.
The 24-year-old was the first-choice left-back under manager Dean Smith when available and has shown in glimpses he’s someone that defends aggressively and joins in with attacks at speed.
A selection of Leicester supporters on social media are not convinced the Englishman is at the standard required for them, as they prepare for the Europa League next season after a fifth-placed finish in the Premier League.
Here are some Leicester fans discussing Targett:
