Leicester fans react as Arsenal could reportedly offer two players in deal to get James Maddison
Leicester City could be about to sing to the tune of two new Arsenal players, as the Gunners try desperately to get a deal over the line for James Maddison. A report claims Reiss Nelson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles could be included. Leicester fans, though, are not impressed with such an offer.
Maddison, 24, enjoyed another excellent season under Brendan Rodgers as he produced 21 goal involvements in 42 games. Scoring 11, he also created 10. Now, the one-time England international is inevitably engineering interest in his signature. Arsenal are said to be very keen on Maddison.
The Daily Mail claim that Arsenal are planning to lure Maddison to The Emirates this summer by offering a pReiss Nelson, who is likely to go. Or, they will include an England star of their own in Maitland-Niles. The latter was on loan at West Brom during the second half of last season.
What have Leicester fans said about Arsenal signing Maddison – in a player-plus-cash deal?
Realistically, a player like Maddison is not going to spend the rest of his career at Leicester. The ex-Norwich man needs a move to a bigger club – given his calibre and ego. But is a move to Arsenal really the one? Leicester finished in fifth place last season, qualifying for Europe again.
Meanwhile, Arsenal were three places back in eighth. They do not even have the Europa Conference League to use as a bargaining tool. A move to Arsenal could be a good one in the future, but this summer? Maddison needs to stay put. Leicester fans reacted to Arsenal wanting a player-plus-cash deal for Maddison.
