Leicester fans elated after Harvey Barnes signs a new long-term contract

Leicester City have confirmed on their official website that Harvey Barnes has signed a new five-year contract at the King Power Stadium.

The England under 21 international spent the first half of last season out on loan at West Brom, where he was so impressive that Claude Puel called him back midway through the campaign.

That may well have cost the Baggies promotion to the Premier League, such was Barnes’ influence, but it enabled him to continue his progression in the top flight.

While he did miss some high profile chances as the quality ramped up, he showed plenty of evidence that he was able to do the business in the Premier League and it will be exciting to see his development under Brendan Rodgers next season.

Barnes is part of a promising young squad that Rodgers has at his disposal and the Leicester fans gleefully reacted to the club’s official tweet confirming the news.

Some supporters want Youri Tielemans to follow, while others are just buzzing that Barnes has committed his future to the club…
