Martin Odegaard is reportedly closing in on a move to Arsenal this month from Real Madrid but only after Leicester City held talks with the Spanish giants for the Norwegian talent – and Foxes fans would love him in a Leicester shirt.
Odegaard, 22, is set to leave Zinedine Zidane’s side on loan after failing to have an impact this season. It was believed he would be a part of the Frenchman’s plans, after having a hand in 16 goals during 36 games on loan at Real Sociedad last term.
But the 25-time Norway international has simply failed to make his mark at Real. He has managed just five minutes of league action since the end of November, and now it appears that Real Madrid are ready to sanction his loan exit.
Spanish site El Confidencial – among others – claim that Odegaard has chosen to join Arsenal on loan in a move that will see the playmaker join without a permanent clause in his deal. Sky Sports state that Leicester did hold talks, but pulled out.
Leicester supporters have imagined what their team would look like with the inclusion of Odegaard and many think he would have been a stunning signing in their push for a top-four finish. One fan Tweeted: “Imagine him, Youri, Ndidi and Madders.”
