Leicester City came from behind to pick up a much-needed three points on Monday night – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter hailed their £3.5million (BBC) defender Jonny Evans for his individual display at the King Power Stadium.

Despite conceding an early Wilfried Zaha goal, the Foxes won 2-1 at home to Palace last night.

Timothy Castagne equalised in the 50th minute with a curled effort into the top corner. However, it was teammate Kelechi Iheanacho that stole all the headlines.

Iheanacho scored the winning goal with 10 minutes remaining, as he showed brilliant close control before firing in a thunderous effort into the roof of the net to continue his brilliant form.

It means that Brendan Rodgers’ side strengthened their third-placed position in the Premier League table. They now have a seven-point cushion over fifth-placed West Ham in the race to finish in the Champions League positions.

A selection of Leicester fans on social media felt that one of their defenders deserved a special mention even though Iheanacho continued his goalscoring run.

Evans, 33, impressed as usual in the heart of the back three, where he brings a great level of experience alongside young talents.

The Northern Irish centre-back provided one match-defining moment that left everyone stunned.

With the scoreline tied at 1-1 during the second half, Evans came up with a remarkable last ditch tackle to deny Christian Benteke tapping the ball into an empty net.

Here are some Leicester fans waxing lyrical about Evans:
