Ben Chilwell has opened up about a conversation between himself and Pep Guardiola when Leicester visited the Etihad Stadium to play Manchester City last month.
According to the Mirror, Guardiola made it plain that he’s an admirer of the England international, amid reports by AS, via the Sun, last week that champions City are keen on a summer swoop.
Chilwell said: “Pep said he thought I was a really talented player and he wanted me to keep playing well, getting up and down the pitch and never going away from it.
“It was nice for such a successful manager to say I’m a good player. I’m at Leicester and with Brendan coming in we’re all loving him being there and that’s obviously where my head’s at.”

Guardiola has been seen on camera having a chat with Nathan Redmond, and it’s clear that his passion for football extends to wanting all players to become as good as they can possibly be.
Obviously with Chilwell, there’s the extra dimension of the transfer reports, and he is on another level to any of Pep’s current left back options despite the riches on offer at the Etihad Stadium.
For now, Guardiola just wants Chilwell to carry on improving, but it wouldn’t be the biggest shock if he was wearing sky blue when the 2019/20 season kicks off.
