Atletico Madrid have made a £71 million bid for Leicester City’s England international defender Ben Chilwell, according to Spanish outlet AS, via the Sun.

They report that the Spanish giants are keen to beef up their defence and see Chilwell as an ideal upgrade after his fantastic season at the King Power Stadium.

The report also says that moneybags Manchester City are also very keen on the Foxes ace, and it would not be a surprise if Atletico’s first move prompts a reaction from the reigning champions.

Left backs Felipe Luis and Lucas Hernandez are both leaving Madrid this summer, so it’s no surprise that Diego Simeone is looking for a quality replacement.

It would be an exciting move for Chilwell if he did take the plunge and go to Spain, but Leicester are building a hugely exciting young side and he looks set to be a key part of it for as long as he stays loyal and maintains his form.

The chance to link up with some of his England team-mates and join a genuine title challenger at City may also appeal too if a monster bid comes in from the north west.

But Chilwell has the chance to be part of something fantastic at Leicester too, under Brendan Rodgers, and playing every week there is going to be very good for his England chances as well.
