The central defender has been with the Foxes since signing from Nottingham Forest in 2012.

Morgan who netted the winner in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Burnley has clearly impressed Brendan Rodgers.

The 35-year-old’s defining moment at the King Power Stadium was hoisting the Premier League title aloft in 2016 when Leicester defied the odds.

Morgan has also won the Championship with the Foxes and played his 700th career game at the weekend.

The no-nonsense central defender is a legend at the King Power Stadium and naturally, fans are delighted that he is set to stay.

Given that he isn’t getting any younger it seems unlikely that he will be a first-team regular for Rodgers next season.

As a result, the contract extension is more likely due to the influence he holds within a relatively young dressing room.
