Leicester City star Ben Chilwell has told Sky Sports that Liverpool were in talks with his agent to lure him to Anfield – in 2014 – but claims he has “no regrets” over his decision to remain at the King Power.
Chilwell, 22, is regarded as one of the best left-sided defenders in the Premier League as he continues to shine under Brendan Rodgers. He is just five outings away from making 100 senior appearances for Leicester.
Despite his young age, he has already won eight England caps and that is only likely to continue. One doubt, though, is whether Chilwell will remain at Leicester for the next couple of years – or indeed, move to a bigger club.
The Telegraph claimed earlier this year that Leicester value Chilwell at a whopping £75million, with Manchester City keen. Now, Chilwell hs revealed he could have joined Liverpool but instead he chose to remain at the King Power.

“I was 17 at the time. My agent was the one dealing with it all, talking to Liverpool and Leicester about the situation,” Chilwell said. “I was trying to break into the U21 team at Leicester so I was just focused on that and progressing into the first team here.
“Definitely no regrets. When I look at how the last four or five years have gone, starting eight games now for the England team is something I’m very happy with. Leicester was the right place for me. Definitely no regrets.”
TBR’s view – Chilwell would not get in above Robertson
Andy Robertson proved on Wednesday night that he is up there with the best left-backs in the world. His goal was excellent, but it summed up his style of play. Aggressive, attacking and the drive and determination to get into that position.
His work rate is second to none, rarely gives the ball away and is able to produce a superb cross. Chilwell, meanwhile, is certainly an excellent defender and has the potential to reach the quality of Robertson. But he is yet to do it at the top level.
