William Saliba has completed a loan move to French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice from Arsenal after failing to make his senior debut with the Gunners under Mikel Arteta – and plenty have responded, including a Leicester City player.
Saliba, 19, joined Arsenal in the summer of 2019 but returned to boyhood club St. Etienne on loan for the 2019-20 campaign. However, injury and a lack of momentum saw him struggle to play regularly, clocking up just 17 games.
He returned to Arsenal last summer and has since failed to play for the first team. Instead, he has made six appearances for the club’s Under-23 side and played twice in the EFL Trophy – something fans did not expect.
Now, he has returned to his home country and while he is not playing for Les Verts, he has joined a Nice side that recently sacked Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira. The Gunners confirmed the move on social media.

Certainly, fans had expected Saliba to be a regular in the Arsenal side especially due to the club’s struggles at centre-back over the years. However, the signing of Gabriel and form of Rob Holding has kept Saliba on the sidelines.
Leicester star Fofana responded, taking aim at Arsenal. He posted on his Instagram story that Saliba is “finally free”, while Arsenal duo Joe Willock and Folarin Balogun also sent the teenage Frenchman messages.
Fofana, a £32million (MSN) signing for Leicester, played alongside Saliba at St. Etienne.
