Report: Leicester City eye three Scottish Premiership additions

Leicester City are planning a triple raid on the Scottish Premiership this summer as Brendan Rodgers sets about rebuilding his squad.

Rangers duo Alfredo Morelos and James Tavernier have been identified alongside Celtic’s Kieran Tierney as potential targets for the Foxes, according to Team Talk.

Leicester’s need for a left-back could be high on Rodgers’ list of priorities; especially if Ben Chilwell makes a big-money switch away from the King Power Stadium.

Morelos netted 29 goals during 2018/19, whilst no defender in Europe claimed as many goals and assists as Tavernier. He bagged 17 goals and registered 20 assists throughout the campaign.

If Leicester do decide to offload Chilwell and Harry Maguire it will significantly boost the spending power of Rodgers. Maguire has attracted interest from several of the league’s top clubs including Manchester City and Manchester United.

TBR Verdict

Given that these three would arrive from the Scottish Premiership it would probably still leave Leicester some financial clout to land a stellar signing or two.

The Scottish Sun has reported previously that Rangers might be willing to do business at £16 million for Morelos. For a 23-year-old striker that isn’t bad, especially considering his prolific record north of the border.

Tierney would perhaps be the most exciting signing. He has been courted in previous transfer windows by much bigger clubs that Leicester and his arrival would be seen as a coup.

Leicester recently offloaded Danny Simpson and Tavernier would represent a significant upgrade on him. The Rangers skipper has been instrumental for the last two seasons at Ibrox and it’d be interesting to see what impact he’d have on the Premier League.
