Leicester City sign Bartosz Kapustka: Twitter Reacts
Leicester City have announced another signing this summer as they attempt to build a squad good enough to deal with the extra games in the Champions League. Bartosz Kapustka joins the champions for a fee of £7.5m, after a promising showing at Euro 2016.
The Poland international shone in their opening match against Northern Ireland, as he influenced the game in the final third. During the game, presenter and Leicester City fan Gary Lineker described the midfielder as “deliciously talented”. He featured in three other matches at the tournament, but failed to deliver a performance as good as the one in the opening game.
He has shone in the Polish league for Cracovia, helping them to qualify for the Europa League qualification rounds. They failed to progress, but it was a great achievement for them to get there and the performances of Kapustka played a huge part.
At the age of 19, he has showed signs of ability, capable of competing on the international stage and it is believed he will develop into one of the best players Poland have ever produced. There were several clubs interested in his this summer, including Ajax, Everton and Southampton. However, Leicester wanted him most and managed to sign one of the most exciting talents on the continent.
This signing highlights how far Leicester have come and that they are planning for the future. Although Kapustka is already good enough to play a part for Leicester this season, it is in the future that Leicester will benefit most from this transfer. They have secured him for a reasonable fee too, especially in the current market and the possibility to make a profit in the future is enormous.
Kapustka is expected to have a squad role this season, but could easily make the left wing position his own. His best position is on the left and the competition for places on that side isn’t as tough as on the right. Marc Albrighton was good last season. However, there are doubts about his ability to perform to those levels consistently, especially in the Champions League.
The Poland international has good ball control and an impressive burst of pace that allows him to make powerful runs in the attacking half. He has a great eye for a pass and a clean strike from range. Although he needs to add consistency to his game and adjust to the Premier League, he has the technical attributes to be a great success.
Here is how Twitter reacted to Kapustka signing for Leicester City:
The general consensus is that he is a great signing for the club:
