If Leicester keep James Maddison it would be bigger summer business than any new signing

Leicester City will embark on their first full campaign under the management of Brendan Rodgers next season.

The former Celtic boss led the Foxes on a mini-revival after arriving in February, finishing in ninth place in the Premier League.

In order to push his team towards qualification for European competition, Rodgers may need to enter the transfer market for some new recruits.

One of his best pieces of summer business could be right underneath his nose, however.

James Maddison is currently attracting interest from pretty much every big-hitter in the Premier League right now.

The England Under-21 international scored seven goals and registered seven assists during his maiden campaign in the top-flight.

A report in The Sun has recently reported that Maddison would be willing to stay at the King Power for next season.

That will be music to the ears of Rodgers and tying him down to a new contract would be his best signing of the summer.

The £55k-a-week attacking midfielder (Spotrac) is a real star of the future. Staying at Leicester would be a good move for his development.

Rodgers has great success at getting the best out of younger players. Maddison, in particular, can thrive at the King Power Stadium under his management.

He is playing regular first-team football and there are no guarantees of him doing that at a big club just yet.

If Rodgers can persuade Maddison to extend his stay at Leicester, it could prove to be one of the club’s best pieces of business ahead of any new signing.
