Leicester striker Islam Slimani has moved to French club Monaco on a season-long loan deal, according to the Foxes’ official website.
The Algerian hitman arrived at the King Power Stadium in the wake of the shock Premier League title win in 2015/16, as Claudio Ranieri tried to flex the club’s financial muscles in the wake of that success.
He proved to be an expensive bust and getting rid of him has been a real challenge for successive Leicester bosses – but he will hope to get back on the goal trail in Ligue 1.
Some supporters feel that Slimani should have been kept around the club as a Plan B and backup for Jamie Vardy, with Kelechi Iheanacho not exactly flavour of the month among some supporters.

There are some who feel that he simply needed to get out of the club – and Leicester needed that as well – and that seems like the more sensible reaction.
Slimani needs a reboot and Brendan Rodgers’ passing style of play would not suit him in the slightest anyway – his chances of usurping Jamie Vardy are as slim as they have ever been.
Ultimately, Leicester could still welcome him back in when his loan deal expires, but at present, it would be a shock if Slimani smashed in the goals on the continent.
