Leicester City fans react as Andrej Kramaric helps Croatia to World Cup semi-final

The Croatian struggled to find his place at Leicester City.

England take on Croatia in the semi-finals of the World Cup this week after the Balkan side progressed against hosts Russia on penalties. One of the heroes of the game for Croatia was a former Leicester City man. Andrej Kramaric scored the equaliser in normal time after Denis Cheryshev had given the hosts a lead with a stunning strike.

The Hoffenheim forward nodded home a header after a chipped pass from Mario Mandzukic in what was a good performance from the player.

In January 2015 the Foxes spent £9.7 million to sign the Croatian from Rijeka in his homeland. Leicester had beaten a long list of other clubs for his signature, including Chelsea. He was tasked with helping Leicester survive the drop that season.

But he never managed to find a place in the Leicester first-team. The striker struggled to play any first-team football at the King Power Stadium. He was eventually loaned out to Hoffenheim just one year after signing for Leicester.

Many Leicester fans were disappointed to see the young Croatian leave, but others swiftly forgot about him when the Foxes won the Premier League title.

But for the past two seasons, since becoming a permanent Hoffenheim player, he has been excellent and is considered one of the Bundesliga’s top forwards.

As it became clear on Twitter last night, after Kramaric’s display, many Leicester fans will wish the club had more patience on the Croatian.

Now Leicester fans will hope their very own Harry Maguire can keep Kramaric quiet…
