Leicester City fans praise Caglar Soyuncu’s performance in Stamford Bridge draw

Many might have expected Leicester to dip into the transfer market for a replacement for Harry Maguire following his departure for Manchester United.

But having extracted the maximum amount from the Red Devils for the England international, they did not appear to find value for money in the marketplace thereafter.

That thrust Caglar Soyuncu into centre stage. He joined Leicester last summer but struggled to adjust and force his way past Maguire and Jonny Evans at the back.

This time around, his opportunity has come to shine and he appears intent on taking it. The £45,000-a-week (Spotrac) defender was voted man of the match by Leicester’s fans on Twitter after the 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday.

Soyuncu is making the Leicester fans forget all about Maguire as quickly as possible and put in an imperious, composed performance at Stamford Bridge in a match that the Foxes were unlucky not to win.

His second season has already begun better than his first and the fans have responded to that as they hailed the performance of perhaps their latest cult hero in testing circumstances.
