Leicester City are said to be eyeing up a surprise move to sign Arsenal winger, Nicolas Pepe.

The Ivorian winger is expected to depart the Gunners before the end of the transfer window and a report from MediaFoot Marseille claims that the Foxes are interested in signing the £72m man.

Pepe has fallen well down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta despite some promising moments last season for the Gunners. Along with a number of other players, Pepe is being allowed to leave the club as Arteta continues his major rebuilding job around London Colney.

Leicester will face competition from Nice to sign Pepe. The French club apparently made their move last week and are thought to be keen to see Pepe back in Ligue 1.

However, Brendan Rodgers hasn’t done much business at all this summer and with the likes of Fofana and Tielemans still being tipped to leave, the Foxes boss could look for fresh faces. Pepe, then, would give Rodgers that fresh face.

Of course, the Ivorian would need to produce the goods having struggled for Arsenal in the main. Furthermore, it could also give Arsenal weight in their protracted move for Tielemans.

TBR’s View: Pepe Could Shine At Leicester

If Nicolas Pepe is keen on proving a point to the Premier League then moving to Leicester could be ideal.

For a start he would get minutes and a chance to show weekly how good he can be. That is the biggest thing for Pepe really, who needs consistent game time if he is to ever really show his credentials.

For Arsenal, it’s just time for them to move on. Pepe was a monster buy who didn’t work out and now it’s best for everyone if a line was just drawn under that deal.
