Mateusz Klich has jokingly compared himself to Andres Iniesta on Instagram after posting an image showing the Leeds United midfielder surrounded in the box before setting up Luke Ayling for the Whites’ winner at the weekend.
Klich has arguably been outstanding lately. And he backed up his recent upturn in form by providing the assist for the winning goal against Bristol City at Elland Road.
The Poland international received the ball near the penalty spot after something of a scramble. Somehow he managed to find Ayling on the edge of the six-yard box.
And the right-back produced the finish of a striker for what proved to be the decisive goal.
There had seemingly been some debate on social media regarding whether Klich was looking to play the ball to Ayling or attempting to have a shot himself.
Klich, of course, appears determined to insist that he always meant to find Ayling. And it turns out that he was looking to channel his inner-Iniesta.
The 29-year-old posted a still from Saturday’s game showing him being surrounded by Bristol City players.
And alongside the photo is another showing Iniesta in a similar situation while playing for Spain.
Both players have five opponents to deal with in the respective images. And Iniesta would also provide the decisive assist in the match in question.
Leeds would certainly love to see Klich draw further comparisons with Iniesta during the remaining months of the season as they look to seal promotion.
Here is what Klich posted on social media…
