Kalvin Phillips was amongst those to respond to Alex Mowatt on Instagram after the former Leeds United midfielder helped hand the Whites a big boost in their promotion push.
Leeds are now three points clear of third in the Championship after beating Bristol City 1-0 at Elland Road on Saturday.
Defeat for the Whites could have left Marcelo Bielsa’s side on the cusp of falling out of the top six. But the afternoon could have hardly gone better for Leeds.
Not only did Luke Ayling score the winner against his old club, but Barnsley did their Yorkshire neighbours a big favour as they faced Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Scott Parker’s side had taken seven points from their previous three games heading into the clash. Meanwhile, Barnsley were bottom of the table and had lost five of their previous six.
However, the form book was turned on its head in incredible fashion. Barnsley won 3-0 with a superb performance.
The result helped leave Leeds as the only team in the top eight to win on Saturday. And it brought the Tykes to within six points of safety.
Unsurprisingly, Mowatt took to social media to celebrate the victory. And his post caught the eye of one of his former Leeds teammates.
Phillips – who was outstanding against the Robins – expressed his delight at the result as Leeds seemingly got their promotion push back on track.
Here is Mowatt’s post, as well as Phillips’s comment…
