Leeds United’s hopes of signing Sean McGurk during the January transfer window may soon be dealt a potential blow.
The Sun reported last month that Leeds had seen a bid for McGurk rejected during the summer. However, the report noted that the Whites plan to make a fresh move in a couple of months.

Despite not landing McGurk, Leeds, of course, did manage to sign one Wigan Athletic youngster during the summer.
And if Joe Gelhardt’s start to life at Thorp Arch has any impact on how determined the Whites are to sign McGurk, it would be little surprise if the 17-year-old becomes a priority.
However, it would now appear that it may be no easier to land the teenager than it was in the summer.

That is because Wigan’s prospective owners are apparently planning to tie every player in their squad and academy down to new contracts should their takeover get the green light.
Jose Miguel Garrido Cristo – a representative for the investors – has told Wigan Today that they want to keep all of their squad together.
“When we go in, every player will get an extended contract from the minute we go in,” he told Wigan Today.
“Especially the ones from the Academy, because they are doing so well, and they deserve the tranquility of an extended contract.
“These players have already been with us for many years, and they are the future of the club.”
TBR View: New contract may not dash Leeds’ hopes entirely
Of course, McGurk would not have to sign a new contract if he did not want to. And Leeds may not be put off if he does sign a deal.
However, with the January window not opening for a little while, it will be interesting to see whether he is tempted to pen fresh terms if the new owners come in.
