Ian Poveda has provided a small injury update on Instagram after the Leeds United winger had to be taken off during the under-23s’ latest win.

Poveda came on at half-time against Sunderland on Monday. Unfortunately, the 20-year-old’s afternoon did last long as he came off worse following a challenge he made in the middle of the pitch.

The wide-man had to be helped off the pitch as he was clearly in discomfort. And given some of the luck Leeds have had with injuries this term, some may have feared the worst.

It remains to be seen how serious Poveda’s problem is. But he has provided an update on social media as he posted a picture of his leg.

The youngster did claim he was all good in the caption. However, the sight of crutches in the background is much more concerning…

Marcelo Bielsa will obviously be hoping that Poveda – who earns £8,800-a-week, according to Spotrac – is not sidelined for long.

He is yet to make his first start in the Premier League. However, he has come off the bench 10 times.

So he is clearly an important part of Bielsa’s plans. He is often the ace up the Argentinian’s sleeve when Leeds need something to happen in games.

Fortunately, the Whites have other options to turn to. Helder Costa came off the bench in the win at Leicester. There are also players such as Tyler Roberts and Pablo Hernandez who have played out wide in the past.
